The Shell Eco-marathon Asia Off-Track Awards showcase the wide range of skills and talents that have gone into each Shell Eco-marathon project and recognise the excellence and outstanding achievements made by the teams off the track.

On Wednesday, June 3, 2020 @6pm SGT, Asia Off-Track winners were announced.

Norman Koch, Global General Manager Shell Eco-marathon, hosted the Asia Virtual Off-track Awards, and was joined by a panel of judges. Plus, special guest Scuderia Ferrari F1 Driver Charles Leclerc announced the winning teams.

The competition was fierce in all six categories. We received more than 100 submissions from 50 different teams across 16 countries.

Judging was no easy task. After building a shortlist of the best teams in each award category, our expert panel went through a rigorous selection process to determine the winners. And as in previous years the winning teams in each category receive USD 3,000 as prize money.

Norman Koch

Before we kick off the show, I want to start off by thanking all of you for the tremendous flexibility and understanding that you have shown as we evolved the Shell Eco-marathon programme due to the impact of COVID-19. And as the situation continues to change, the health and safety of our Shell Eco-marathon participants and, of course, our organising teams remains our top priority. We want to celebrate the amazing innovation that you have shown in your submissions to the Off-Track Awards, which are very much deserving of an Off-Track Award Ceremony. So roll the titles, please.

[Background music plays]

Orchestral music transitions to a fast, edgy rock beat. Whooshing sounds accompany title transitions throughout the video.

[Animated sequence]

A light blue trophy graphic zooms into frame, centred over a darker blue background watermarked with rows of scrolling Eco-marathon related icons, alternate rows scrolling in opposite directions. After pausing at frame centre, the trophy graphic zooms to fill the frame and then dissolves, replaced by white, red and yellow lines that originate at frame centre and shoot out across the frame in various directions. Again, the trophy graphic zooms into frame, animating at frame-right, and title text in shades of red, yellow and white animates at frame-centre. Finally, a broad diagonal yellow line wipes across the frame, marking the transition to video footage of Norman seated in his home. The Awards title text and trophy graphic display briefly at frame centre, before exiting in a shrink animation.

Norman Koch

So let’s get started. It's been a really fierce competition this year for all six Off-Track Awards. We received over 100 submissions from 50 different teams across 16 Asian countries, which of course made the judging for our jury once again very tough. After building a shortlist in each award category, our jury got together online to go through a very stringent selection process to determine the winners.
